Comfortable Silences

To my friend Mary Adamis & all those who perished

in Covit-19 plight

In the movie Pulp Fiction,

wondering young Mia

with her enchanting lust for life

speaks of comfortable silences

while stoned, Vincent,

beholds in quiet

the joy and terror

her bosom enjoins

Try comfortable silences

when a friend lies in a coffin

inside a local morgue,

pace your breathing with hers

…for as long as you can join

Compare the quiet relief

death bestows with the folly

our anguished struggles augur

Seeking catharsis estranged in a home

we failed to cherish, to own.
