آنها مانند ما درد را احساس نمی‌کنند

وقتی ملت ایران چندین دهه تحریم وحشتناک غرب را تحمل می‌کند، بمباران را تاب می‌آورد، با تورم سرسام‌ آور زندگی می‌کند، ارزش پول ملی‌ اش فرو می‌ریزد و بیمارانش از دسترسی به داروهای حیاتی محروم می‌شوند، اما همچنان از تولید نتیجه سیاسی مطلوب واشنگتن سر باز می‌زند، طبقه مفسران از خود نمی‌پرسد این مقاومت چه معنایی دارد.
نمی‌پرسد چه تجربه تاریخی، چه حافظه جمعی یا چه اراده سیاسی پشت آن ایستاده است. در عوض پرسش دیگری مطرح می‌شود: این مردم از نظر زیستی چه تفاوتی با دیگران دارند؟

ناتوانی در شکستن ارادۀ ملی یک کشور، به مدرکی برای متفاوت بودن آن ملت تبدیل می‌شود. پایداری برای کسب آزادی در تعیین سرنوشت خود به بیماری بدل می‌شود. استقامت در مقابل دیکته های قدرت را به اختلال فکری و جسمی همانند می کنند.  و امتناع از تسلیم شدن، نه نشانه کرامت، بلکه نشانه نوعی ناهنجاری معرفی می‌شود.
